In this struggling time in the world, many of us have been wondering if God is still with us. Is He still here even though millions of people, friends, family, and colleagues are dying because of a virus? It is hard to see Him here when the whole world is struggling to survive. Throughout this time, many people have started to lose their faith; but God is here, no matter what is going on in your life – the good and the bad.
I once heard a story about a little girl who was in kindergarten at a Catholic elementary school. She had one older brother and two younger sisters; her mom was pregnant. It was sometime in February, and it was the day for children’s mass at her school, so she was all bundled up in her winter coat and she went with her class to church. Before mass started, she knelt down to pray and thought about how her older brother was stuck with three younger sisters, and how that couldn’t be very fun. So, she decided to pray for a baby brother so her older brother would have someone to play with. She folded her hands, closed her eyes, and said, “Lord, please give me a baby brother so my older brother would have someone to play with.” She prayed a bit more, and right before she was finished she heard someone whispering to her. “Yes,” the voice said. She opened her eyes and looked around to see if anyone was talking to her, but everyone else was either praying or waiting for mass to start. “Yes,” the voice said once more inside her head, right before the mass started. Five months later, she had a new baby brother. The girl then forgot about this incident until years later when she was going through a time of struggle. All those years later, she finally realized that God had spoken to her and answered her prayers when she was a little girl.
Most of you are probably thinking that this is a story that I made up just for this article, but this story is 100% true. I know this because I was that little girl.
I was the one who prayed for a baby brother, and my prayer was answered. God works in strange and mysterious ways, such that you never know when He may speak to you or answer your prayers.
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.Matthew 7:8-9
He will always be there no matter what. You just have to have the faith and courage to go and seek Him.
